I recently decided to update my old HP Pavilion Elite E9000 with a new graphics card and RAM. I went with what I thought it could handle based on some research but have been having issues since the update. With games (Total War series mostly) the game client appears to crash randomly. Can go for hours without issue or can crash every 15 minutes. Also getting random Blue Screen with Memory Management errors while the computer is running. Can be browsing the internet and nothing else and this will happen.

Not sure if its overheating, if I need a new power supply due to the new graphics card and RAM, or if the new card or RAM are defective in some way.

Info on the system and updates below. Let me know if you need more info.

Machine Specs:
HP Pavilion Elite e9000
Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
BIOS: BIOS Date 10/29/09 Ver: 5.24
UPDATED: 2x PNY - 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3 DIMM
UPDATED: PNY - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0

So I have to utilize all six slots at the same time? Did not know that. Serves me right for now doing my homework properly. I'll try that and see if it works. Thanks Paul.

No you can only install 4 GB in each slot since there's 6 slots, and it supports 24 GB ram max.

If the mobo you posted is the one you're using

You dont have to use all 6 slots. Just as long as you install 1GB, 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot

You can't install 8 GB in one slot
