I have a recently acquired Windows 7 PC with a gigabyte motherboard. The system sounds will not play but all other sounds are working normally. The volume controls for all settings are NOT muted. The sound driver is a Realtek on the motherboard. I have tried the latest driver without success, also System File Checker which found nothing. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

Solution
Try rt clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray down by the time, Select playback devices. Make sure its set to use the Realtek HD or High Definiition Audio Device. It may have jumped over to another device like HDMI audio or something.
