Only Using M.2?

Solution
"Would just using an M.2 work? (Without using any hard drive or SSD)"

Question doesn't make sense - - - - an M.2 is an SSD - - lol

However, that aside, some boards can't boot from M.2, in which case it can only be used for extra storage capacity, so indeed you'd need to install an additional SATA HDD/SSD for the OS.

um isn't an M.2 the smaller drive thing which you screw in the motherboard?
The SSD you have to put different cables in it right?

No need to apologise, we were all "noobs" once :)

I can't believe 20 years ago I was going to pay someone to fit an optical drive in my PC because I didn't feel confident doing it myself! I forced myself to do it and it was easy - - after that I never looked back.

It's the ever-changing new technology which is challenging to those who want to keep their knowledge up to date.
