hello everyone,

i was playing around with my pc and my brother pc and tried to switch the motherboard and cpu, but when i put my motherboard in his pc and i try to start it up it will blue screen whilest the pc is starting up windows.

i already tried searching on the internet for solutions , but the only solutions i saw was to do a fresh windows install on the hdd, but my brother needs the stuff he has on his hard drive so i can't do that.

is there any way to do this without reinstalling windows?

thanks!

Put your motherboard back in your computer. Verify it boots successfully. Then connect his hard drive to your computer and backup his data. You won't get his HDD to boot with your motherboard.

You shouldn't have to. YOUR hard drive has the appropriate config for your motherboard. If it is just data on his hard drive then using his disk as a data drive will give you access. When HE gets new hardware he will probably still have to reinstall windows.
