I’ll be using the GPU for 3D animation along with a bit of gaming .

Yet to learn any of the 3D design softwares.

So, the main concern is, even if the quadro p1000 has the upperhand when it comes to animation, is it particularly useful for a beginner like me , or will the GTX 1070 do just as fine ?

Sorry, this is coming a bit too late but, could you please elaborate how exactly the Teraflops come into play when it comes to 3D animation.

Actually it depends on the specific software used along with the other uses of the PC as what to buy.
You can run into driver issues and not being able to use all the features of the software.
Sometimes a AMD card like a RX 580 is better to use.

yeah, it depends on the software your using.
i had an issue with 3dsmax where i couldnt use the opengl renderer with my 5870
and i had a similar issue with my gtx 970 due to poor driver support by nvidia. it took nearly 4 months to get a driver that allowed me to render off the gpu but at least i got it to work. i never did with my 5870.
