I3 6100 vs i5 6500

In my pc build i have a gtx 1050 2 gb is the i3-6100 better than the i5 6500
Because the i3 may bottleneck but the i5 Is more expensive I have a budget of 750$ canadian

No, the i3 is not better than an i5. The i5 has 4 cores, whereas the i3 is 2 cores with hyperthreading.

Personally, I would not buy either, now that 7th generation Intel CPUs are released. The chips worth considering now are the Pentium G4560 and i5 7500.

i5 6500 is much better than i3 6100. Neither is going to bottleneck GTX 1050 or even an GTX 1060. So get any that suits your budget. I will buy an i5 if there isn't much price difference.
