Just built a new gaming rig and was wondering if these cpu temps are normal. Overclocked to 4.8 GHz with a 1.330 vcore. Temps at 100% load running Prime 95 for 1 hour max out at 81c. Playing Battlefield 1 and Mass Effect Andromeda with everything maxed out only pushes cpu to 61c. Idle is between 32c and 34c. Running on air cooling. Just quit AMD so i'm still getting used to not shi**ing myself whenever I see temps above 60c...lol.

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D
SSD/HDD: Crucial MX300 525 gb m.2 ssd/ Samsung 840 evo 240 gb ssd/ Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 2 tb hdd
Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus GA-Z270X Gaming 5
CPU: i7 7700k @ 4.8 GHz
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster MasterAir Maker 8
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LED 16 gb ddr4 @ 3000 MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x

Changing the GPU to EVGA GTX 1080 ti FTW3 sli once they're released. Hoping that guarantees me at least 3-4 years of 60+ frames in 4k...fingers crossed

UPDATE:
Crap... I was using the newest version of Prime 95 for these tests. Just read about how you want the older version. Redid the tests with Prime 95 version 26.6 build 3 and max temp at load was 69c. HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Second Update: After tinkering with older version of Prime 95, I've got this beast running at 5 GHz at only 1.30 vcore with Max temps after an hour of 100% load only hitting 68°c! All on air! Did I hit the silicon lottery?!

One thing to keep in mind about 4K Gaming is that most monitors out there that are 4K are running at 60Hz meaning you won't get over 60 FPS on a 60Hz monitor. there are 4K monitors out there that are above 60Hz but get you wallet out and prepare to spend some serious doe. A promising example of a monitor shown at this years CES is this one

I would expect to pay at or over $3000 for something like this. The sweet spot for gaming is 2K 2560 x 1440 for now anyway.
