Hey Guys,

So what I have now:

i7 4790k @ stock speed /cooled with a hyper 212 evo
MSI Z97 gaming 5
8gig ram @1600mhz
nvidia geforce GTX 970
samsung 840 evo 250GB
2TB western digital HDD (old one)
850 watt PSU
Windows 10
dual 1080p monitors

So here are a couple of questions to help me make the right decisions because I want to decide if I should upgrade and what I should upgrade.

First of all, is it a 'good moment' to bump up to 1440p gaming or is it in any way better to wait?(this question in general but also with my build in mind and what I have to upgrade to achieve that)

If I would upgrade to a 1440p monitor is it enough to only upgrade the GPU or will other parts of my pc bottleneck it to the point that it's a waste of money? What I for example notice when I play Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (which I can only play at medium settings) is that my 8gig ddr 3 RAM is constantly close to maxed out. (80-90%)

Or is it better/worth it to do a big upgrade now to the new i5 7600 for example with a new MOBO and ddr 4 ram and a 1070/1080 if I choose for 1440p gaming?

Thanks in advanced!

Your CPU is still good, not worth it to upgrade to anything else out right now. Even your 970, if it's on the heavier end with the VRAM, is capable of 1440p. Though a 6 GB 1060 (hardly an upgrade, skip), 8GB 1070, or a 1080 Ti (don't bother with regular 1080, wait for after market 1080 Tis) would be better, yes.

Other than the +8GB RAM upgrade and possibly a new GPU, I don't see anything else that needs upgrading. And I assumed you meant 1440p@60hz, not 144hz. If you do want 144hz 1440p, my notes would be very different.
