Still trying to enable VT-x on intel core 2 duo E7500 on Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard
no such option in BIOS, tried to update to F6 BIOS but a message comes up after trying to run file
"error due to Windows 64bit incompatibility".
is there a way of enabling VT-x on this motherboard.?

Solution
Yes that would explain why it's missing even though the board does support it.
Well eBay has plenty of used E8500 (which all have VT-x) for $6 shipped, or you could get a quad for $10 more.
In the BIOS under "Advanced BIOS Features" it's called "Virtualization Technology."

It will only be there if your CPU supports VT-x. Apparently only E7500 stepping SLGTE supports it, while SLB9Z does not. CPU-z will show VT-x under "Instructions" if you have it.

And don't try flashing the BIOS in a DOS window, there are already enough things to go wrong without going through emulation too. Boot to genuine 16-bit DOS with a floppy or USB stick.

Sorry. I have a different mobo then the model I posted about. I have a gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L (rev 1:1)
I have updated the BIOS to F10 yet I still don't have a virtualization option in the Advanced BIOS Features menu.
when I run Hyper-V Manager I can't connect to local server due to the Hypervisor not enabled on the physical CPU.

I'm not trying to win any awards with this hardware, I'm just trying to run a DC and a VM client to do my class labs. My core 2 E7500 is a SLB9Z that does not support VT-x so that is probably the reason why there is no virtualization option in the GA-G31M-ES2L (rev 1:1) BIOS, after the F10 update. I guess it's time to upgrade to a more modern motherboard-CPU, that said I was very impressed with the capabilities of this CPU when overclocked to 3999 MHz.
