Will the Ryzen fit my motherboard?

Solution

Yeah, that CPU should work in theory. But like Barty's saying, if HP doesn't push an update for that (seemingly proprietary?) motherboard's BIOS, your max upgrade would be the A12-9800.

I would call HP tech support and see if they have any BIOS updates or if they plan on updating the BIOS at all. Worth a shot.

It'll physically fit, but I'm not so sure it'll be fully supported because of the TDP of the motherboard. The officially supported AM4 CPUs you can upgrade to are the AMD A12-9800, 9700, and 9600 (all 65w. Motherboard is rated to support only 65w)

Look for Ryzen CPUs that are 65w. You will also need a GPU if you get one that doesn't have built in graphics.
Here's a list of them all and their TDP ratings: http://www.game-debate.com/news/22279/complete-list-of-amd-ryzen-cpus-and-first-ryzen-prices-revealed

Was there a particular Ryzen CPU you had in mind?

Physically, yes.

Will it work? I highly doubt it.

To support other chips, it'll need a further BIOS update to enable support. Given it's a prebuilt & not really intended to upgrade, I wouldn't anticipate a BIOS update to increase CPU support.

Why are prebuilts being sold with A10's paired with GTX 950's? Jeez.
