I just assembled this new workstation (for HPC use) yesterday and everything is going swimmingly except that I can't get it to see the graphics card, at all. I'm currently limping along on the board's integrated graphics. No sign of it in device manager, zero "unknown devices" or errors of any kind. Just not there. Can't install the drivers as it looks for the card first thing. Fan's spinning on the card but no other signs of life, don't think it has any LEDs.

When I switch off the onboard graphics with the jumper it gives me beeps signifying no graphics found on boot and stays dark. I've tried both PCIe x16 slots, (PCIE2 and PCIE4), multiple times. I've fiddled with the "legacy" vs "UEFI" settings with no improvement, not sure what else in the BIOS could be relevant. According to the ASUS block diagram, PCIE 2 and 4 are both controlled directly by CPU1, which is where I've installed the single CPU. However the manual's representation of the layout of the board is grossly outdated, so I guess even that could be wrong, though I doubt I'll have success putting a single CPU in socket 2 and leaving CPU1 empty.

Also, the M2000 card does not have an auxiliary power connector, so it's not that. There is a 4-pin molex on the motherboard that I haven't fully identified yet. None of the usual power connectors are 4-pin so not sure what that would be for. The 24pin and 2x 8pin EPS12V connectors are installed properly.

Any ideas of what I can try would be much appreciated! My next plan is to bring in my personal Quadro K2000 Thursday for a sanity check. Is there a way to see at a lower level (in the BIOS or elsewhere) that the PCIE slot is recognized to be occupied at all?

I'm getting conflicting information about whether CPU1 controls PCIE slots 2 and 4 (the only x16 ones), or if CPU2 does. It seems crazy to me that they'd set it up so you couldn't use normal video cards if you're only using one CPU (which is explicitly supported) and that disagrees with their published block-diagram, but the manual is outdated enough I guess I'd believe it. Does anyone know this for sure? Got a question in to ASUS but nothing yet.

Thanks.

Hello NewportLabs,
I have a Quadro k2200 running on this motherboard (PCI channel 2) since the build with 2 Xeon processors without auxiliar power connections as this VGA feeds only from the board. What I think that could be helpful is to update the bios to the latest version (now i think they are going V3407) and this motherboard came to me with V501, which is known for having many compatibility issues. You can do it with a key usb with the .CAP bios file on it, as explained in the manual.
Also running only a single CPU on this board could affect some characteristics, but I think is not determinant for running your VGA.
Hope it helps and sorry for my english.
