Hey there,

I'm looking to build my first gaming computer, and have looked through a lot of other builds/threads and came up with something that I feel like works. But, not being an expert, was hoping to get your guys' opinions as to whether it looks good and/or if anything looks completely off.

Here's my build:

Thanks in advance!

Do you plan to overclock the CPU (now or in the future)? If yes, then you should get an i5-7600K to pair with that Z270 motherboard. If no, then you should get a B250 motherboard to pair with that locked i5-7600 you initially picked (though a better price/performance would be the i5-7500).

if you don't plan on getting a K version CPU in the future then you can save money by getting a motherboard with a H270 or b250 chipset, the H motherboards offer almost all the same features as the Z270 board except overcl;ocking and SLI while the b250/b270 boards are barebones mobos that don't have much for expandability

How badly does getting a b250 handcuff me down the road?

You're welcome.

No point in price/performance for getting the "K" if you will not OC at all. The K has slightly the same performance but with higher temps/heat/power draw than the non-K at non-OC speeds. The i5-7500 is a good choice for a first time builder of a gaming PC with no intentions to overclock.

For the GPU, I would personally get a dual-fan card for better noise/temp ratio. The single-fan models are ideal for small form factor rigs (ITX and small chassis) where space is limited. Another cost-effective alternative to that GTX 1060 3GB is the RX 480 4GB, which both are intended for 1080p-resolution gaming at ~60Hz.

from that MSI board you shouldn't have to worry. most B250 boards i seen really don't have as many features and ports as that one

Hey sorry to bump this - but i was looking at adding a SSD to my build, and wondering if this Kingston would be a good choice: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/rtzv6h/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sv300s37a120g

and my updated parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/VgWdwV

Also, do I need a CD Drive? I'd rather not get one if i can help it.
