I posted this question a few days ago with not much response. Might have been cause I put it in the wrong place, idk. :D I'm new to this.
I have an I5 3570. GTX 970 g1 gaming gpu. 16g of ram on a z77 extreme4 motherboard. What's the best processor I can use for gaming (Arma 3) 3750k ???? And how much should I expect to spend on this upgrade?

Arma III is a game that favors strong single core performance. So getting a 3570K and overclocking it would probably be a good option. Though I would just go ahead and get a Core i7 3770K because more and more games are starting to use the hyperthreading. You can get a Core i5 3570K for $110 if you live in the US. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-3-4Ghz-LGA-1155-SR0PM-6M-Cache-4-Cores-Tested-/252833390662?hash=item3ade0b6046:g:eek:pYAAOSwDKtY2dHt and a Core i7 3770K is about $220 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SR0PL-Intel-Core-i7-3770K-3-5GHz-Quad-Core-CM8063701211700-CPU-Processor-BH-/201869093552?hash=item2f0055eab0:g:8xYAAOSwWxNY2S28

to be honest, i wouldn't upgrade a cpu. i know your i5 3570 is locked; however, gaining 3-5 extra frames for $220 isn't worth an upgrade in my opinion. It'd be better just to save money until you actually need to upgrade significant changes in the future. Getting the "best" means paying the "most". If you saved $650, you could probably get a 7th generation processor, motherboard and RAM ($350+$150+150) to get a bigger upgrade in clock speed. $220 for a 3rd gen i7 vs a $350 for a 7th gen i7 means more value at the more recent processor.
