We are trying to connect wifi to another building. The router is about 100 feet away from the building. We have 2 extenders between there and also 2 yogi antennas 1 on each end. The internet does work from time to time, but it's very slow when it does.. any suggestions? ? We think it's in the settings.

Yes need to know what your actual euipment is to even begin to figure out what the issue is.
WiFi extender is a very ambigious, but the off-the-shelf products at your local electronics store are not going to work well for this application.

The PROPER setup for this is a AP like the ubiquiti nanostation on each building, each connected to their own router/access point at the other building.

Without knowing just the specific equipment you have and exactly how it is set up, it would be impossible to say just what is wrong. But the approach of self-engineering with wifi extenders connected to external antennas is a basic problem. You should really just use an outdoor directional access point/client bridge setup wired up with ethernet at each end and get this done right. Look at Engenius or Ubiquiti for reasonably priced setups.
