After reading everyone else's results, I feel like I might be insanely lucky... Or I'm absolutely clueless... I built a new gaming rig and have my i7 7700k running at 5.0 GHz on 1.30 vcore on air. Ran multiple stress tests, including Prime 95 version 26.6 build 3, and my temps never went above 69°c at 100% load. Did I hit the silicon lottery?!

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D
SSD/HDD: Crucial MX300 525 gb m.2 ssd/ Samsung 840 evo 240 gb ssd/ Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 2 tb hdd
Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus GA-Z270X Gaming 5
CPU: i7 7700k @ 5.0 GHz
CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster MasterAir Maker 8
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LED 16 gb ddr4 @ 3000 MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x

Changing the GPU to EVGA GTX 1080 ti FTW3 sli once they're released. Hoping that guarantees me 3-4 years of 60+ frames at 4k

Hello!

There is the chance that maybe you got a lucky chip, but what application and version number are you using to run the tests?

From what it sounds like though, you might have gotten off the hook with this chip, as one of the big reasons the 7700k has been reported hot by so many, is that the die and IHS aren't pressed together very tightly, similar to Haswell.

If your chip isn't thermal throttling though when you stress test it, than congrats your temperatures are accurate!!!

Hope this was of some help!
