Connect an 8 pin SATA cable to a 6 pin connection on power supply?

Please excuse my ignorance, I am sure this is a stupid question. My PC power supply failed and I ordered a new one, thinking I could simply connect that same cables to the new power supply. But of course it didn't work out that nicely. Everything seems to connect with the old cables except for the ones that had been plugged into the SATA designated ports on the old power supply. These cables are 8 pin and the new power supply only accepts 6 pin for the SATA (heaven knows why they can't all be the same). Is there some kind of adapter that I can mate the 8 pin cable to the 6 pin port on the power supply or some alternative solution? I am guessing an alternative would be to replace the old cables but they wrap behind the motherboard goes who knows where. I am really trying to avoid doing that.

This is my new power supply:

and this is my old one:

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it...

Solution
You need to use the cables that come with the power supply , if you don't damage could occur to your setup.

Your old PSU was poor quality , your new one is first rate.

Power supply cables aren't universal , quality varies vastly..
