Let me clear this up: i spilled some water inside and i thought it ruined the card. the fans still spin on my old one but it doesnt show up in device manager. this new one im posting about also isnt showing up in the device manager... so maybe the motherboard got messed up? thats didnt make sense to me before because im using the motherboard and same PC right now

Well that's.... an important detail lmao. If you're getting signal from the card to your monitor, not showing up in device manager usually means that you don't have the correct driver installed. Use DDU to uninstall them all and reinstall the one for the GPU that you currently have in the computer.

I have them both in. lol. Whats DDU, and should i only use one? Do I have to have the monitor connected for it to recognize it in device manager?

Update: Let's say the motherboard was hurt by the spill. Is it at all possible for it to be damage in such a specific way? To not recognize video cards, but still operate normally in every other way? Again, i'm using it right now. I can still use my pc as a pc, i just cant run any of my games anymore. Stuck with LoL :(

Don't put both in at the same time, and no you don't have to have it connected to the monitor for it to be recognized but there are too many problems going on here to help. One at a time man. DDU stands for "Display driver uninstaller" and it's a software to completely uninstall display drivers. Take one of the cards out and put the one that you want to use in and install the driver for that card. If you try to use 2 at the same time from different generations then you'll only create problems. You haven't even told us what the other card is, that would be helpful.

Other card was a gtx 970, but yea sorry we'll get to that. I talked to a Gigabyte tech support guy who told me to plug a monitor into my new card, make sure its the only video card in use, restart the pc, and use the disc given in the box to set it up... im gonna try that and get back here with what i found out... im assuming that if this doesnt work and the DDU suggestion doesnt work, my motherboard must be the issue. IF it is, is it as simple as buying the same one (new) and plugging everything in? Or will removing a motherboard break all my stuff? :'( OR is it being my motherboard impossible because of me being able to use my pc right now?

i thoguht 1050 was the better one? Also, have to get the adapter for the tech guy's solution off of amazon, so i guess ill keep trying random things until then. What graphics card should i get thats like 1 tier better than a gtx 970?

This new card is providing just more issues anyway, so i think ill give it back to amazon and get another... suggestions? I'd like it to have a DVI - A port on the back and be just barely better than my old 970. thanks for your help <3

Alright... so something's wrong with the disc they gave me I guess because it says it's corrupted. I guess I have to return the 1050 and just buy another 970, since you're all saying its better anyways... are there any other cards that are slightly better that are compatible with a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI motherboard?

Update: Returning the 1050 right now, and looking for a new one to buy. I'd appreciate it if a smart guy here could tell me these two things about the following cards: Is it as good or better than a 970, and is it compatible with the motherboard listed above?
