2.5 Slot Graphics cards

Hello I am looking to upgrade from a GTX 770 to a GTX1070. Now I notice that some of the 1070 cards require 2.5 slots and don't really understand what this means. Is this 2.5 slots on the PCI express or my case or what exactly?

My current case and motherboard is:

PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE
ASUS® P8H77-M: M-ATX, DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0Gb/s, CrossFireX™

This means that next 2 slots on the motherboard will be obstructed (because of cooling system of the graphics card) and you won't be able to use them.

it means that you need 3 slots wide space from the PCIe slot to the next PCI card or other component.
Practically it means no go fo mini ITX cases and that you have to have 2 empty slots (or their equivalent spacing) between the GPU and next expansion card if any.

So it will take up the two blue slots below the PCI express slot then but should fit fine?
