Worth changing PSU with the new rig?

Im currently upgrading my PC and going to get a 1080 ti. However, my PSU is more than 5 yo I think. Corsair GS800.

Im concerned about it's safety features - is it likely for a PSU to take other components with it if dying? Is it worth getting a new one that will at least have a warranty now?

If you're PSU shorts on you, it can take literally every component with it. With it being outside of Corsair's warranty period, a replacement is something to be considered.
