I've had Win7 Pro on my shelf for several years, loathe to give up my XP, but I'm interested in finally installing it and using XP Mode. Question: Can I virtualize an existing XP installation in Win7 rather than downloading and installing a new one?
I have a complex multi-boot system with MSDOS, FreeDOS, two installations of XP 32, and one installation of XP 64, all in different logical drives, and with a logical drive reserved for the Win7. The data files are all in separate drives. I could muti-boot the Win7, but would have to reboot every time I wanted to make the switch. I could devote one of my XP 32 drives to the new download version, but I would rather just use the XP installations as I have them set up now, which hopefully I could do by virtualizing one or more of them.
One of the problems I ran into when installingl the Win7 previously, was that I could no longer access the MSDOS. I uninstalled the Win7 and reinstalled the MSDOS. I'm wondering if I can keep the multiboot function for the MSDOS by reinstalling the MSDOS after installing the Win7. Also want to keep access to FreeDOS, in its own logical drive. Is all that possible?
