I could use some help. I just bought an Asus GTX 1060 3GB which has a 6-pin PCI-E slot for connecting to the PSU. My PSU is a Corsair CXM 650W 80+Bronze semi modular. My problem s that the cable that came with my PSU has a 6+2 PCI-E prong on one end (which I connected to my GPU) and the other end has a 6+2 PCI-E that is only 4ish inches away and the other end of the cable has an 8-pin Type 4 prong. Would the GPU be ok if I plugged the 6+2 end into the GPU (leaving the 2 prong dangling) and then plugging the 8 prong end into my PSU? The other 6+2 end is not long enough to reach my PSU with my GPU being located near the top slot of my expansion slot tray. I just want to make sure that there isn't an issue with 6 pins attached to the GPU and 8 pins attached to the PSU.

My cable looks similar to this but isn't sleeved: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/type-3-sleeved-black-pci-e-pig-tail-cable

I appreciate any assistance.

One additional note is that all of the PCI-E slots on my PSU are 8 pin. There are 6-pin slots in the SATA/Peripheral portion of the PSU. I built this computer a few months ago, but just got the graphics card this week.
