Hi guys, I'm building a semi-new computer using components from my old system. Here's what I'm using now vs. what I'm getting:
- Pegatron M2N78a Violet mobo ==> ASUS M5A78L-M Plus
- AMD Phenom I 4x 9650 ==> AMD FX-8300
- 7gb DDR2 RAM (3x2gb, 1x1gb) ==> 8gb G.SKILL Sniper DDR3 RAM (2x4gb. 1866MHz)
- Windows 7 Home ==> Windows 10 Home OEM
- on-board GeForce 9100 gpu ==> Gigabyte Radeon Rx 460 (4gb GDDR5)
- 750gb hdd ==> 1tb hdd
I'm on a pretty tight budget, being a part-time non-student, and that's part of why I'm not buying a new case and all-new USB panel and power supply and all that stuff. Looking more to see whether this is all compatible, rather than whether it's all the BEST option (but if there are better options at similar price points, sock it to me!)
So how does this all look? From my research (I've done quite a bit!) it seems like SHOULD work once it's all together, and more than likely be a better system than what I had before. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
I'm not really the world's biggest gamer, and I don't need games to run on crazy high settings to be satisfied. I do mostly audio recording and photo/video editing work, as well as emulation of older consoles. I've gotten a LOT of mileage on of my previous system even given how where the specs were, so I'm excited to see how much better things will run with a system that's a bit more beefy.
