Which on is the best?

List as increasing order of price from where I live

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX
MSI GTX1070 Gaming X 8G
Asus gtx 1080 strix

The two best are the Asus ROG Strix and the Zotac AMP! Extreme. The Zotac is a tiny bit more, maybe a tiny bit faster, a little bit hotter, and is a LOT bigger, but has better cooling capacity than the Asus, and will be quieter. Both feature the best overclocking that comes with a factory OC'd card. At this point it comes down to which card looks better, if you like LED's the Zotac wins, I have the 1080 version and the LED's are seriously sick. The Asus ones are meh at best, and the Asus software is buggy and isn't as good, but Zotac's Firestorm isn't much better. In either case you will likely only ever use them to change the LED's and use MSI:Afterburner to do any tweaking, and I highly recommend changing the fan profile.

Zotac's fan...

Zotac's fan profile does suck though, and you will need to set the fan speed to a minimum of 30% or else you will have an EXTREMELY annoying spin-up/stop fan cycle. Setting it to always be at a minimum of 30% fixes that.

The other two are mid-range cards (if you can even call it that since the difference is so small) between the Founder's Edition and the heavily OC'd cards.

It depends on what you call best..

Zotac AMP Extreme & ROG Strix are the fastest but we're talking about a couple FPS, not worth it spending 50 bucks extra.

Best air cooling goes probably to the Inno3d iChill x4

Best value depends on your location but us between Gigabyte, Palit & Gainward

The EVGA ACX cards are sometimes a dB quieter

Of the 3 you've listed you can go with the cheapest one. Differences are so minor that it doesn't make a notable difference.

It does actually make a difference. Maybe not in power but definitely in noise and heat. Also, more fans doesn't equal better cooling automatically, probably why Inno3d is barely on the GPU radar. Anyone who has overclocked a founder's edition will tell you that the lack of cooling definitely hurts the performance. I even heard the 1080 Ti MSI Armor is having trouble with heat, and it has two fans.

So if you want to save yourself the headache of overheating and throttling get a cheaper card, spend the extra $50. If I had the money for a loop I would get a Sea Hawk EK X, because that is the coolest and quietest card out there, but it's an extra $150 and the loop itself is another $300-600.

Value doesn't even come into play when discussing this, because the 2-fan cards run hotter and louder than 3-fan cards in addition to not being as fast, even if only 2-4 fps, because when they throttle under heavy loads, that 2-4 fps is going to turn into 20-30 fps because of thermal throttling.

And let's talk about heatsinks for a moment. The FTW2.0 was released because of EVGA's failure to implement sufficient cooling on the FTW model, requiring thermal pads to be added. It's also evident they focused IMMENSELY on cooling for the FTW3 1080 Ti, since they went with a 3-fan card, as well as changing literally every other aspect of their cooling situations.

Asus also changed their heat-spreader and increased the size of their heatsink to increase cooling.

So why fix something that isn't broken? Because they saw deficiencies with their designs, hence the reason EVGA focused so much on cooling for the FTW3, hence why Asus changed their heat spreader and beefed up their heatsink.

So in short, yes, design makes a HUGE difference.

Talking about the 1070 that's just wrong.

Doesn't matter if it's a 2fan or 3fan card, it's the actual heatsink that matters far more.
Also 3 fan cards are usually 90mm fans, 2 fan cards 100mm fans.

No 1070 overheats unless you do serious overclocking.
Might be true the 1080Ti has issues, but this is a way more powerful card.
For example: just because I'd recommend a liquid cooler for a 7700k i wouldn't recommend it for a Pentium.

Inno3d doesn't sell worldwide and doesn't flood the market as much as Asus or MSI, that's why they aren't "on your radar" so much
Also it's about fanboys. EVGA can release the biggest crap, like they did with the ACX coolers where they forgot the thermal pad and fanboys still think they s*it gold.

A 1070 MSI Gaming X or Palit Gamerock doesn't throttle.
I'd know I own one.

Your info might be good for a 1080Ti but most certainly not for a 1070

Perhaps, but since a 1070 is a disabled 1080, that information can still apply.

And the Gaming X is a mere $15 cheaper than the Strix on Amazon, and a mere $20 cheaper than the AMP Extreme, definitely not "50 bucks", so why even bother with that difference?
The Gaming X is still louder and hotter and not as fast, so why not spend a few extra dollars for faster, cooler, and quieter?
