asus z97 maximuis ranger iiv
msi gtx 1080
xfx core edition 850watt psu
i5 4690k @ 3.5ghz
16gb ddr3 1600mhz ram
cryorig universal
soundblaster zx sound card
256gb samsung evo 850 ssd
2tb western digital harddisk
1tb samsung harddisk
6 fans

which would give me the best performance boost, upgrade to a i7 4790k or either build a x99 system or z170 system. which would give me the best result.

Solution
This will last you another couple of years easily. Upgrade to CanonLake or TigerLake when they come out after 2-3 yrs and you should be good.

so does my system look good should it last me a few years and if i want to add a second gtx 1080 then i could. i agree the i7 4790k would be nice then i can overclock the i7 to 4.6ghz maybe lol

There is not too much difference between the 4790k and 6700k. Since you already have the z97 board, get the 4790k and OC it to somewhere around 4.5ghz and it will give you plenty of performance.
You will definitely get the best performance on the Kabylake platform but the extra cost of board and RAM wont justify the existing build.
