Win 7 pro after install and 219 updates black screen on boot up

As title says new build 500gbyte hdd. All my applications loaded or installed ok.
Did win update of 219 updates - took around an hour (broadband lousy-10mbit download speed).
Rebooted, got asus bios as to mem & hdd installed, then screen went black
message came up stating:-

You have unregistered drivers press(n) after connecting a bootable device....the rest
I cannot remember, but at that time nothing was seen to indicate that win 7 attempted to boot.

Rig is
Asus M5A97R2 6350AMD at 4Ghz
16gb hypermem
6 hdd installed
750w corsair psu
XONAR SOUND CARD
NVIDIA 710 gfx card
System used for video creation..editing..animation..

Can anyone advise pls

System could not be recovered. Error was from asus motherboard not win 7.
Tests revealed that boot partition had ben removed, and windows disk could
not repair the drive. Inserted replacement drive, didtotal reinstall of win7 & all
applications, then did win update of 220 files and all is working fine.

On original hard drive I did wipe partition and format, yet gave me grief..

Hard drive is no good..
