I cloned the disk per instructions. The rescue did not find the drive in the hdd slot.
i went int disk management and made the largest partition active. How can i make this cloned disk bootable?

Clone the drive (I would do it again if you've already tried messing with the partitions on the cloned drive)
Put just the new drive in laptop
Boot off Windows disc (the one for your OS)
Follow instruction for 'troubleshooting' or 'repairing startup' or 'repair boot' (will vary depending on your OS)
Should take 10 seconds or less to repair
Boot off new drive

You don't have to use the one specifically for your system, just the same OS. If you are running Windows 10 x64 repair it with a Windows 10 x64 disc. Microsoft has a media creation tool you can use to download an ISO that will work for the purposes of repairing the boot.

So what I need to in my case is to download a "media creation tool" from Microsoft that i can put in the disk drive and it will boot up on start up and allow me to make my new hdd functional. I have Windows7 x32
