I can either buy 8gb ram or an ssd. Currently have 4gb of ram. I currently use it for gaming and general work. Which will give me the biggest performance boost? Also would I need to uninstall my games and then install them on the ssd or is there an easier way?

Solution
If you install an SSD it'll give you faster boot times and applications / games loading times. If you install bigger RAM, it'll give you much smoother experience in resource hungry applications like games. These days 8 GB is a kind of minimum for a gaming PC, so you'll see a significantly smooth experience with games.

So it's up to you to choose. If you are buying as SSD larger than your current used capacity of your HDD(C Drive), you can simply clone it using a migrating tool. Else you'll need to do the migration manually.

Well if you mean you want to buy 8gb to put ontop of the 4gb it's a bit pointless, best to have 8gb or 16gb not 12gb. You really do need atleast 8gb in this day and age though so it'd be best to upgrade ram first. If you want though you should try and get a 120gb ssd and put windows on it, keeping your other drive for games and stuff. ssds are pretty expensive these days so it's not worth getting a big one unless you have the money.
