I'm upgrading my PC soon (everything except the GPU), and i'm just wondering what ram i should go with for strictly gaming purposes, 2400mhz or 3200mhz?

Now, obviously 3200mhz is better... However i'm on a budget and 3200mhz will cost me an extra $65, which i'd rather put towards a good game or just back in my wallet. So i really only want to make the purchase if it gives a solid fps increase.

I did some searching and found mostly productivity benchmarks, and the one gaming benchmark i found showed little difference, but i'd still like more opinions.

Thanks.

Whoa 3200 over 2400 is definitely not justifiable for $65 more.. I'd say $30 at most but even then games have little difference in general. From benchmarks i have seen some games get +2-3 FPS at most when going from say 2133 > 2666 but only some games, others get 0 gains at all. As you've clearly already seen, it mostly helps in CPU intensive workstation tasks. 2400 MHz will be fine for your build, use the saved cash for another game or better hardware elsewhere as you said. Hope this helps :)

It's not just the ram, it's the ram plus the Mobo lol. I'm not getting an unlocked CPU, so i'll be sticking to the b250 motherboard, which would cost another $30-40 to upgrade to a 3200mhz compatible board like the z270.
