Yes it will provided the Operating System is on the SSD of course.. You don't "Need" both. Most people just have both at the moment because SSD's are expensive so generally people get smallish SSD's for priority apps and buy a big HDD for bulk storage. You can most certainly only run an SSD though. Hope this helps

Well I wouldn't always expect a difference that large, but yes it does make a noticeable difference in how your computer feels. All applications open much faster and feEl more responsive on an SSD. Many games will see a large drop in load times and launch times. Windows will boot faster. I remember I was really pleased when I first upgraded to an SSD.
