I was playing Bioshock today when the connectivity of my Logitech controller started randomly connecting and disconnecting. After getting frustrated by the experience, I decided to walk away for 15 minutes. When I returned, I decided to unplug the controller to try another USB, and it was very hot, very hot to the touch.

Both the controller and USB jack was very hot and I now feel this controller is now unsafe to continue using, which sucks because it was my last working controller. Has anybody ever seen a controller behave this way before? Anybody know what would cause a controller to behave this way?

Did you get any errors on the PC? It sounds like the controller has a short in it. When a USB device draws too much power it will usually popup and error on the PC that says it's shutting off power to the device or throttling the current depending or something like that. Generally speaking it should not be getting hot for any reason and I'd say it is time to buy a new controller.
