Possible to Hardwire a Bluetooth Controller?

I currently have a Mini Bluetooth Controller (bought it from Amazon) that I use for some gaming. The small size and the sliding action of the 4 way "joystick" (it's actually a 4 way switch not an axis) is the reason I need it. Unfortinately the Bluetooth portion of it is causing problems: it sometimes has trouble pairing, sometimes disconnects, sometimes the battery dies, etc. I was wondering if it is possible to hardwire it to a USB plug and run it that way? I'm handy enough to solder as need be, but don't have the circuit board/electrical know how to navigate how to do it....if it can even be done.

Probably not.

Good that you have the soldering skills and recognize the need for a schematic.

However, the controller is not made for any repairs and nearby components are likely to melt or otherwise self-destruct with any repair or modification attempts. Or just opening the controller up to look inside may have the same effect.

Plus there are probably not any physical connections per se that could be converted to USB. The chips etc. are mostly likely very short trace runs between the pressed buttons and wireless output.

That said I like DIY projects and generally encourage people to give something a go. All risks being acceptable.

What you might be able to manage to do is examine some similar device (albeit larger) with four identical switches (buttons).

See how those buttons are connected to its' USB cable. Then connect that cable (if you can sacrifice it) to the buttons on your transmitter in the same manner. Or use some other USB cable that may be on hand.

Google "USB joystick wiring diagram".

Maybe you can solder up something similar to one of the following diagrams:

There are other similar diagrams online.

Therefore, if there is nothing to lose by trying then may as well give it go.
