Is it worth it investing $150+ on keyboard vs $80?

Like the title says, are you really investing in better quality and lower latency when buying more expensive keyboards, or are you basically just paying extra for features and RGB (which I don't really bother about)?

I'm currently looking for Cherry MX Red keyboards with low latency and I can't decide if I should pay $80 or invest in a $150+ keyboard.

Solution
Get 2 keyboards
1 mechanical and one Non-mechanical
Press a button at the same time and tell me if you notice one acting slower.

I've used crappy 10 dollar keyboards since I started gaming on computers and never felt the need for a better one.
Why? Because the signal travels so fast you're unlikely to be able to tell the difference.
Even my wireless keyboard on a first person shooter is fast and responsive.

HOWEVER, I don't recommend any bluetooth keyboards for gaming.
Personally I use the Logitech MK550 set and it works perfectly. (no complaints)

I've used a pretty decent variety of keyboards, both mechanical and non. If you're buying a good quality mech keyboard with good reviews, and enough features for you, then I wouldn't worry about spending extra money. Going from a non-mechanical to a mech is a big difference, but I personally don't think there's a lot of difference from there besides extra features/better backlight systems. My brother has a less than $100 hyperx mech keyboard, and I have a $160 mech keyboard, and the only difference I can find is that mine has RGB. And honestly, his keys have a better feel to them than mine.

There is likely a break-even point where you are paying more for extraneous features and materials than any increase in performance.

You can assume that any mechanical keyboard that uses high quality switches will have adhered to some level of standard necessary to make the keys operate as intended. Polling rates on USB are going to be more a factor than switch latency I would image.

I'm in the market myself, but haven't dedicated enough time on research. Been using membrane keyboards since the mid-90s. Though I do have an IBM Model M laying around, amazing what you can find at a high school auction...
