1 usb port is fried on my client intel dg31pr motherboard making the other ports only power up but won't connect, I recommended to buy a pci slotted usb hub but my client is really cheap. You can tell as he's still using intel dg3pr mobo.

So I have an idea removing the fried usb port since the fried one is above the ethernet box.

Can anyone confirm if it will still work if the fried USB port is permanently removed?

I can take a USB port from the same board if I can find it before I try to remove the fried port.

Update, I tried plugging a flash drive while on bios on a known good port, it recognized my flash drive when it started up.

The suspected fried port powers up for 1 split second before it lose powers, and the other 3 ports will stay powered, so i thought it might be a grounded PSU, I decided to put the dg31pr on my case with all my components but still the same

I tried it and the outcome is:

I searched for the port that is fried and remove it, it worked fine,

I had another client but the grounded part is not in the port but in the board,

If the grounded part is not in the port, try looking on the board if there is some lead almost touching, heat them up, do not over heat and it will be good to go again
