Nvidia surround and GTX 1080ti. Only 2 display ports?

I am debating about selling my 2 x 980tis and getting a single 1080ti. I noticed all of the 1080ti's that have been reviewed only have 2 display port connectors. It is ok to mix display port, HDMI and/or DVI in a Nvidia surround setup? Are there any downsides to doing that?

I am currently using display port for all my monitors with the 2 x 980ti's.

Solution
Yeah, EVGA have 3 DPs.

Its because of VR headsets using HDMI ports. So if you have a headset plugged in and you have a HDMI monitor, you're forced to use an adapter - so they've started including 2 ports.

Its not an issue for surround, as long as the monitors do not require more bandwidth than HDMI/DVI is capable of.

If you're running 3x 1080p@60hz monitors, no issues.

If you're running 3x 1440p@144hz monitors, then you will have problem.

I wonder why the 1080ti, which is on of the first single cards truly capable of running a triple monitor setup, would only have 2 display ports? Why Nvidia, why???

Edit: It appears the founders edition has three display ports. The Asus Strix and MSI gaming X both only have two though.

The EVGA FTW3 has 3 display ports. Maybe I will go with that and pick up an EK block for it when they are released.

+Gallarian Thanks for explaining their reasoning for going with two DP's instead of three. I was really wondering. That being said, I would have rather seen MSI go with 3 DP / 2 HDMI / 0 DVI. I'm glad EVGA is sticking with the standard configuration, although I'd still be happy to see DVI ports disappear. By the way, how did you know that's the reason for the two HDMI ports?

I finally ordered a 1080ti. I ended up going with the Asus Poseidon. I should receive it by the end of next week. It only has 2 display ports. I assume using 2 display ports and one hdmi is ok? Will this have any impact on image quality? I assume the answer is no since my monitors are only 1920x1200 60 hz.
