Hey,
I currently have my 7700K running at 5GHz @ 1.255V, so far everything is stable but my temps are at 85c max on package, averaging around 75. One problem I'm facing is every piece of software I have tested has HEAVILY fluctuating temps, going down to 56c all the way up to 85c while AIDA64 stress testing. Are they reporting temps right or am I risking damage to my CPU?

Should I revert back to 4.8GHz @ 1.150V where I only saw 73c max?
My CPU cooler is a Corsair H110i GT

Solution
You must have SpeedStep enabled then.
85º is definitely high. It's a good idea to add 10º to the temp you are seeing and make sure that THAT never reaches the max Tjunction for your CPU. Is it perfectly stable with torture testing?

Personally, I would never OC a CPU that close to it's max temp. You ARE risking damage or, at the very least, a shorter life for your CPU.
Some temp monitoring programs report incorrectly. Instead of using the 'CPU' sensor try using the 'core' sensor (if available).
The program Core Temp is good. Just make sure you hit the 'more downloads' and get just the 'stand alone version' so you don't install any extra crap on your computer. Let us know what Core Temp registers.

Yea, I'm just leaving it at 4.8GHz @ 1.185V, never goes above 73C. Thanks for your help.
