AsRock 970 Pro3 + FX 8350

So, im about to order a FX 8350 Black Edition (the one without the Wraith cooler) and a AsRock 970 Pro3 R 2.0 but i've heard the 4+1 power design isnt good for this CPU and the VRM might overheat, i don't intend to overclock but i might be running the CPU at 90+ % load at times, will i have any issues?

dont go for the old vishera fx. wait till april 11 for 1600X.

That is both too expensive and doesnt have Win 7 support, FX is the only option im considering

Again, don't buy an FX CPU. They are 6+ years olds and use end of life socket and RAM. Very bad buy. As said wait for the new Ryzen or go Intel.

then ur best bet is a b250 mobo with g4560 cpu n later upgrade to 7700

And to be clear, im not buying a Intel or a Ryzen, im only buying a FX

VRM is still an issue cuz all 970 have a 4+1 design

Unfortunately no one in this country sells MSI, its AsRock, ASUS and a limited selection of Gigabyte

8+2 phase CPU VRM power design for AMD high-TDP CPU support. it also supports 8350 natively without any bios update. its a good choice overall. but the requirement of a good cooler still stands.

Im wondering, is Asus M5A97 R 2.0 a better choice than the Asrock? I know the VRM cooling is better

No the Asus M5A97 R 2.0 is known to have issues running 125w cpu at stock speed under prolonged load (gaming). It only has a 4+2 phase power design.

Even if you get the 8350 on a good board its still going to be outperformed in most tasks by a cheaper Pentium or i3. I really think your wasting money going the FX route.

Okay, so if i ignore my burning hatred for Intel, what can i get in this price range that will get me the same performance, as long as its not Kaby Lake, im not getting anything that doesnt support Win 7

I'd like someone who has tried it to chime in but I believe Kaby and Skylake will work with Win 7. However letting an 8 year old piece of software dictate you hardware choice isn't going to get you the most optimal system for your money.

Just to finish this up, in the end i decided to go with MSI 970 Gaming, i doubt anyone will call that a bad choice
