Hello!
I am building my first PC (an IT student here).
I have collected most of the parts, but they have been sitting in their boxes waiting for a while now.
See, I have a very tiny chassis and I want a top notch, tier one PSU, tier two at worst.
OBS! The case can only house PSUs up to 140mm in length, and the PSUs plug inlet can not make a face when the PSU is down with the fan facing up. I even though about cutting and welding the case PSU bracket so I can fit a Supernova G3.

My components include:
Chassis: Cougar QBX (the lion in the room), Modified!
CPU: I7 6700K(didn't get the 7700k because of heat and case size)
Motherboard: Asus Z170I
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX, 2X8GB @3000mhz
SSD: SK Hynix Canvas SL308 250Gb
HDD:WD Blue Mobile 500GB
ODD: Asus SDRW-08U1MT (Yes, I still use/love those)
CPU Cooler: Cryorig H7
Case Fans: 2X Noctua NF-A9 PWM
GPU: waiting to see what AMD brings to the table. Perhaps a RX 580 or a Vega card

Thanks!

Solution
Get your gpu first. I could say just get a 650 that cover just about any situation but you'll probably only need a 550 at best with the new amd cards, but may end up with a 450w, and there's quite a few t1-2 psus that fit the bill.

I don't think the cost will be so difficult to cover, but the size (140mm) is what's making me wait almost a month without building the PC. I have finally decided to get the EVGA Supernova G3 650w and take my case to a workshop to cut and weld a little to make some more clearance for a longer PSU.
PS: I am getting the 650W model because it costs about 10 or 11bucks more than the 550 one, where I live!

Update: there was a 29% discount on the G3 550W, and I ordered it!
