Hey guys. I'm having some issues lately with my USB ports and more recently my case fan. Randomly, half of my USB ports stopped working. Device manager shows 2 Intel Host controllers, one Intel 3.0 controller, and one VIA 3.0 controller. 2 of the USB ports on my motherboard are Intel and 4 are VIA. The VIA ports appear to not be working any more. My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H.

Also, my case fan hooked into my SYS_FAN3 port is revving up and slowing down, going mostly at very low speed. Other fans appear to be working fine. Any idea what's wrong?

happens when your motherboard starts to lose functionality due to surge/outages or electronics in general degrading over time. i have a z77, too. motherboard lost integrated sound. Had to replace with sound card.

you could invest in a PCIE usb adapter for an expansion card. Or you could get a fan controller that connects to the power supply where you can manually adjust RPM's.
