I am playing Rainbow Six: Siege multiplayer with Uplay and Steam running in the background. My processor is Intel i3-3220. It keeps hitting 100% while I am playing the game due to which I am getting low FPS and FPS drops frequently. The game itself is using 80-95% cpu (why?). It might also be bottlenecking my GTX 970 due to this. Plz help!

i'm not shocked that your cpu usage is hitting 100% in a game like this. That is a fairly newer game with pretty good graphics. That cpu is decent for gaming, but it is going to bottleneck your gpu. I had the same exact cpu for a while and noticed a huge improvement overall while gaming when I upgraded to an i5. You should be able to run most games on medium 1080p around 60fps with what you have, but the usage is going to be high and sometimes your going to have to adjust things lower due to the cpu.

I am running Rainbow Six:Siege on Low 1080p :p
It gives about 25-35 fps when the cpu usage is 100%, vsync was off.
Normal singleplayer games run pretty good, 60-70 fps at 1080p high settings. The gpu is also overclocked a little.

yeah in multiplayer your going to need to turn it down to low with optional settings turned off and resolution to 900p or 720p ish. Multiplayer requires way more resources. I'm using a i5 4460 / rx 480 and can play mass effect Andromeda nearly maxed out in 1080p at around 90fps really smooth in singleplayer. Multiplayer I turn it to medium at 900p to get a consistent 60fps. There is just way more stuff going on during multiplayer, tons more enemies and players. This is normal in most games like these 2 and others.

If that game has a render scale setting just try leaving everything the same and turning that down by around 20-30%. This is totally normal and you have nothing to worry about. Just mess with the settings for online until you find something you like.

I tried lowering resolution and graphics a lot but nothing happened. Still getting 25-35 fps, still 100% usage. Some other threads said turning on vsync would solve the issue but it also did nothing. :(

That does seem a bit odd that with the lowest settings it still doesn't improve much. If the issue is only in multiplayer then I would think that it is just the cpu not being enough to push 60fps with all that is going on. I would think your hardware should be able to at least maintain 40+fps on lowered setting at maybe 16x9 during multiplayer. Playing online with lower settings should cut the fps in half or even lower. I'm not really sure if there is something else up or if it's just a lack of cpu power.

Did anything change recently before this started or did it always run this way? You could try to post in steams forums and see if someone else with the same cpu can get better performance when playing online.
