Is it time to upgrade from Haswell yet?

I'm using a i5-4690 and want to know if Its worth upgrading yet?

Both single core performance and multi core performance are important.
And I'm open minded about Ryzen but I dont think I really need more than 4 cores yet.

Depends on your needs, the i5 4690 is still a good cpu. Single core peformance the ryzen is probably on par with haswell, ofcourse multithreaded it's better but you dont need 8 core for gaming. So then you will be looking at the ryzen 5 cpus, which are 4 and 6 cores with smt(hyperthreading) and from the benchmarks ive seen, the performance should be on par with skylake level, so in my opinion it's not worth to upgrade yet.

Also what gpu do you have?

Depends on what you do on your computer? Btw is it non k cpu u have right?

I'm not going to bother yet, see my sig for my specs, Ryzen seems at best a move sideways for me being that I don't have a lot of use for more than 4 cores/threads. Even if the IPC is the same as Haswell (could not find a reputable, direct comparison) it can't catch my overclock. If Ryzen 2 can match my clocks, or some of the 4C8T models of Ryzen can I will revisit this.

Unless you're doing heavy encoding or similar hyperthreading tasks it's not worth it. (Or unless you REALLY want to overclock) Save your money for an upgrade in another area.
