Hey,
i would like to get help from someone with better knowledge than me.
I'm not sure if its good move to get GTX 1080 right now, when updated version with 11GB is arriving soon, will it be any perf difference, or is that just capacity difference (i dont get it very well, i just know that capacity from game settings, where needs are scaling with resolution, settings, etc.), if just "capacity" difference, then im sure that 8GB will be enough for 1440p, right?
Id like to get EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 ICX or ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP EXTREME which are both almost same price here, but it looks like EVGA has better PCB, so it was recommended to get EVGA, it also has good cooling with new ICX technology.
I know that if i will wait now, it will be another reasons to wait later (like price drops because of VEGA, etc.) and i dont wanna wait forever. Its true that im not under pressure, i got GTX 980 which still performs very well, but its already not enough for 1440p at max settings.
So, is that 1-2months waitin for 11GB worth it, or it will not be any spottable difference?

Tips for that competition between ZOTAC and EVGA are always welcomed.
Thank you so much.

11GB GTX 1080? I know the GTX 1080Ti is 11GB, is this what you're thinking of, or did I miss something?
Now, if your question is, should you get the 1080 or the 1080Ti. That would depend on what you'll be doing with it. IMO, the 1080Ti is too expensive, but if you're an enthusiast and have the money, it's a beast of a gpu.

In answer to your question: Is it worth waiting? It depends. I've seen "rumors" that it's releasing this month, but I have no idea if that's true. If it releases this month and for the same amount of money, then I would wait for it. The problem is, I don't know when the new SKU is releasing, and if the price will remain the same. There is a chance that this new memory will be offered in the highly overclocked graphics cards, that carry a moderate premium. No way to know for sure.

Thank you very much, very satisfacting answer.
I guess i can wait, because i already finished games which most pressured me to upgrade, so right now, i can still live with GTX 980 and wait for a perfect moment.
