to buy a laptop, or to build a computer; that is the question!

So, have the option of building a desktop, or buying a laptop. My budget is going to b about 1k for ether. If I can get away with less that's awesome! I'm a student too, which makes a laptop nicer. At the same time, none of my current classes will require the use of a laptop (at school anyway). I plan on using it for homework, videos, and of course games! I play mainly MOBA's, League and Dota 2. I also play some MMO's, just not as much. I prefer to play on ultra settings, 1080p. The MMO's I play are mainly GW2, though I hope to mess around with some of the other games coming out.

Will a laptop handle this at this price range? I was thinking of something off of craigslist, more bang for the buck. What do you guys think?
