I have a dell xps 8700 which can be found here: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883155728&cm_re=i5_4430%2bhd_7570-_-83-155-728-_-Product

I ordered ram and tried to install it to the xps 8700 but the computer never star correctly.

Here is the ram I ordered: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIABR04WE1812

Good deal for 8 gb ddr3 ram, right... I noticed the ram I ordered was AMD ram, not sure if that changes anything.

I am not sure why this ram is not compatible with my PC, any recommendations for ram, 2 gb is enough.

Solution

Sounds like the ram is incompatible with your motherboard. As I said before, ram that doesn't work is the most expensive kind, no matter how good the sale!

Did you just add the new ram to your PC, or did you replace your existing ram? Getting new ram kits to work and play well with older ram(even the same brand, make, model, timings, speed, and voltage) is problematical at best and impossible at worst. I suspect that the new ram is incompatible with the old. Remove the old ram, and replace it with the new. If that works, then you know that the new ram won't work with your old ram. Any ram that won't work with your old ram is too expensive, no matter how good the sale price!

How much total ram do you want? I would not recommend adding ram to your existing ram, but rather replacing it with a kit of however much total ram you feel you need. I am afraid that what happened when you tried to use new ram with your old will happen with any new ram you get.

If you want 16GB total then I suggest getting a 16gb kit. As long as you don't try to use old with new, I think you will be OK.

I think I may have found something better for the same price: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231660&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-Memory+%28Desktop+Memory%29-_-N82E16820231660&gclid=CjwKEAjw8ZzHBRCUwrrV59XinXUSJADSTE5k9JIfGz_QlIgDf156a3bDKuDZjmqpuEUBzjkWVrBKixoCne3w_wcB&gclsrc=aw.d, but is this compatible with my PC?

Did you find it using the memory finder tool or did you just look for any 2x8GB kits?
If you used the tool, then you should be good to go. If not, then, who knows?
