I was planning on getting the ASUS Maximus IX Apex, but I found it's an overclocking motherboard, I want the best gaming motherboard. Is the Apex good enough, or should I look at something like the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 9. I'm ok with the two dimm slots on the Apex BTW. I plan to have a water-cooled i7 7700k overclocked to 4.5 GHz with two GTX 1080ti's in SLI air-cooled with two slots in between them. My case will be the Rosewill B2 Spirit, a SSD for OS and a HDD for storage, 16Gb ram 3000 MHz, I want Intel Optane, and room for M.2 space later. I don't think this will affect much, but a VIVE will be in the shopping cart as well. Unless a 4k 120hz monitor comes out soon, I will get a 1440p 144hz Acer Predator. I just need a high-end motherboard.
