Hello

I recently built my PC with specs as below:
Ryzen 1700X
Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5
Team T-force Dark 2400MHz 2x8GB
Sapphire RX480 Nitro 8GB
Crucial MX300 525GB

I just realized that my MX300 is showing much less space than it advertised, 489 GB only.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong:
525GB divided by 1024, equals 512GB actual space.
And reviews said that the actual usable space is 512GB. I bought this SSD because I get more space with pretty good price.

Anyone know why this happened? or is there any reasonable explanation for this?

Thank you in advance

Just like any 2.5-inch SATA solid state drives you just need to install them in your system and power it on. With the drives installed and formatted you have 489 GB of usable space on the 525 GB drive and 978 GB on the 1050 GB drive.

Great review and article.

Thank you very much for your very fast answer.

I guess as @skynetrising said, I did misunderstand how the calculation works..

I appreciate all your answer. Thank you very much. I learnt something.
Sorry for such a trivial matter.
