Had some issues yesterday at the house with the tv and internet out for a while before I could get back home and deal with it. I restarted the gateway and the internet came back, but the tv's can't find the media gateway. I tried logging into the router to see if it was an update error because I see online that can be a common theme. Unfortunately the gateway just sends me this generic error message.

{"error_id": "PFAIL_NOTAUTH","error_code": 15}

I'll ran an ipconfig/all as well, but this is a head scratcher for me. I've been both hardwired in and on wireless with no problems to connectivity, but I think this is the first time in my adult life that I've been physically unable to access the router without there being a serious connectivity issue behind it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Solution
If you cant access the router GUI page then you are going to have to call your ISP.
I dont want to blindly advise you to do a facotry reset since I dont know how that will efect your cable/dvr setup.

It is enabled. This is really testing my patience. I'm not a dullard. I've gone through the basic steps. I'm looking for a more insightful look, not a How to Computer for Dummies book.

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

It is stock firmware. I presume an update messed up the connection between the gateway and the dvrs.

Try dissabling IPv6 on your computer and then see if it gives you an IPv4 address when using nslookup.

Is thus just basic DVR/TV devices that can connect to any router, or is it special equipment/connection that requires that SEPCIFIC modem/router?

Can you access the router configuration webpage since you can ping it?

Non-authoritative answer:

23.28.251.26
23.28.251.21
23.28.251.27
23.28.251.20

That's the nslookup without timeout. Still unable to access the router gateway. The gateway is required for the cable/dvr setup.

Yup, had already called them and set up an appt. Just thought I might be able to find a way into the router. Much appreciated.
