I was wondering if a 3 way molex connector can be used in any combination. For example, I have a molex connector with 2 male connectors and one female connector all together. I have a female molex connector that I need to reach and wondered if the male connector can be used in conjunction with the other male molex connector and not using the female molex connector at all. So it would just be used male to male so I can reach and leaving the female connector open with nothing in it. If this makes any sense to anyone?

Nope. Doesn't make sense to me.
If you could illustrate your idea with pictures, that would probably help.

So you have molex male connector, you want to connect it to molex female connector. How is male-male molex gonna help you? I don't think there is such a thing.

Gender issues, most likely.
Anything coming from PSU, is female. (tubes inside, not pins)

As far as I know, all peripherals that supply molex connectors, come with male-female plug of it (like fans) so that you can plug it between existing connection as is.

As far as I know, male-male-female connector could exist but it would serve no purpose since 99.99% of things don't use two PSU's to supply one hard disk or equivalent. Past that, it will work just fine as long as the plugs fit together.

Just take care since male ends are not as well protected from touching things as female ends, most of the time. This is because normally male ends are not connected if they have no power.

edit: So, taking gender issues into account, what you have is likely this: Male to 2x female splitter, which is absolutely fine to use.

Alternately you can just use extension cable that scout_03 linked to below.

I would think you would be able to use the 2 male connectors without using the female connectors to make a connection provided you have a power source. They make molex cables with just male at both ends which is to address the comment SkyNetRising made. I didn't want to spend the money ordering a male to male molex cable when I already have the 2 male connectors and one female connector all in one cable. I am just trying to connect something with a female connector at one end to another female connector at the other end with the male to male Molex cable.
