Hello all y'all smart folks here at tom's Hardware.

I received a new computer as a gift a few days ago. Quite wonderful! Now, as I booted it up today, I experienced it performed subpar at quite menial tasks; browsing, watching videos and playing games at both high and low graphic settings (Crusader Kings II, World of Warcraft, Mass Effect: Andromeda and others like them).

I tried to reinstall drivers, check for loose wiring, etc. None of it helped. I then started checking both the GPU and CPU to see if any of them showed signs of errors, and I found that all 4 cores are sitting at 95~ degrees celsius with a load of 2%. I promptly turned off the computer afterwards and here I am, hoping for any sort of help. I'm not a very tech savvy guy, but my first instinct is that the CPU drew the short straw somewhere in the process, but mayhaps any of you can spot a flaw?

Underneath you'll find my PC specs:
CPU: i7-7700k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i
MOBO: ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 TI Founders Edition.
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000mhz, 2x8GB
PSU: Corsair RM850x 850W 80+ Gold
SSD: Intel 600p 512GB m.2 NVMe SSD
HDD: Seagate 3,5'' 3TB
Case: Corsair Carbide VG-Edition

If you need any sort of extra information, ask and I'll try to answer the best I can!
Thank you all for your time and effort!

And just as a quick note, the CPU has not been overclocked in any way what so ever. It's as standard as it comes.

Sounds like the H110i wasn't mounted properly. The CPU reaches 95c from just sitting idle, running web browsers and such? What software did you use to monitor the temp?

If you/someone just bought it as a prebuilt, you might want to send it back under warranty and have them handle it.

If you pieced this together, are you confident in how you installed the H110i? I would remove it from the CPU, clean up all the thermal compound from the CPU lid and the heatsink, apply new thermal paste, and make sure you cross tighten, corner to corner upon remount.

Yes, the CPU reached those temperatures just by me browsing on Google Chrome.
It was prebuilt, so I'd hope the H110i was installed proper, since I for one have no confidence in installing coolers. So a faulty (or poorly installed) cooler can make temperatures reach that high? Not doubting anything you say, just rather surprised is all.

A faulty/poorly installed cooler would be, and usually is on these forums, the cause of irregular CPU temps like that. It's very easy for someone to forget to tighten one screw, making the temps of a CPU go crazy. Or if they plug the CPU fan (in this case the pump) into the the wrong connection on the motherboard. Who was the manufacturer?

yes faulty or wrongly installed cooler will make it go northwards of 90c no problem

As I can see/hear/feel, the cooler itself should be running.

Hm, well then, very interesting. The manufacturer of the computer is a company that reside in Denmark (https://www.mm-vision.dk/). I've had great dealings with them in the past, but that of course doesn't mean they can't make a mistake here and there.
But by the sound of it, the best idea would be to send it back to them under warranty, as I'm under the assumption it'd be very unwise to mess around with the parts myself, as it'd void the warranty.
