Gameplay issues, need to upgrade, don't know what though

My computer is having new difficulties running newer games. I was able to run The Witcher 3 on High pretty well, around 50 fps. However, I tried playing Battlegrounds just yesterday, and had too many problems to list. Had to drop to 'Very Low' settings, and still wasn't having smooth game-play. This was rather depressing and frustrating... I cleared space on my HDD to make it 85 GB free of 250 GB (yes, the small HDD may be an issue...) and that sorta fixed it, but my frames would chop every 20 seconds or so. Here are some specs:

i7-4770
8192MB RAM
MS-7823 motherboard
AMD HD 7800 GPU (6081 MB) up to date btw
Samsung SP250GB 4c 7200 RPM HDD

My question is, what should I replace and/or upgrade? (My current guess is the HDD???)

it's $375 from amazon . not from the us so craigslist is not something i am familiar with in terms of refunds etc.

no. the size of the hard drive will have no bearing on the performance of games as long as there is enough free space for windows and it's swap file , plus temp files etc.. if you have more than 10gb free space imo you're good to go in relation to performance but obviously in relation to storage.. ouch !

what would be your budget for an upgrade of the gpu .. i checked the requirements of battleground and your card doesn't meet the recommended.. just the minimum and from what i can see you should be ok with medium level graphics on your current gpu .
