Hi,

This is the build I'm currently preparing for DAW and video editing (no gaming at all -- although that information is completely irrelevant). I used several PSU calculators that showed I need only a 550W PSU but I want to be sure so I figured I'd ask those with actual experience.

CPU: Ryzen 1800x
Cooler: NOCTUA NH-15 AM4
Mobo: B350 GYGABYTE Gaming 3
GPU: MSI RX 480 ARMOR 8GB
Memory: 32 GB Kingston 2400 Mhz (2 x 16Gb obviously)
SSD: Samsung Evo 850 500GB
HD: 3x WD Blue 1 TB 7.2k RPM
Case: Fractal Design S (also not relevant)
PSU: EVGA 550 G2/G3

Is the 550 PSU sufficient (as all PSU calculators told me) to completely safely and sufficiently run this system? I have a nagging feeling it should be higher, but it's just a feeling.

I have a secondary question about motherboard compatibility with Ryzen 1800x, (aka will a B350 cause any performance bottlenecks) but I think I will put into another thread.

I very much appreciate any and all answers and am grateful for your shared experience, expertise and time.

Thats not true at all, you can overclock on any AMD motherboard. X370 boards generally have more VRMs and better setups for Overclocking but it works on any of them.

underground That PSU is more than enough, I have a similar system and it just touches 400w under a major stress test. Most of the time it only uses about 280w.
